This is the presentation I gave for the Northeast Supply Chain Conference in Framingham, MA, on outsourcing for company growth, which discussed different business and entity structures, and the key components of various outsourcing contracts.
The presentation discussed how outsourcing can aid early stage technology-based companies and virtual companies to contract out functions that require time and capital or scale to be established. I discussed how early stage firms have outsourced marketing, sales, CFO, as well as HR functions, manufacturing and scale up.
The presentation also discussed large scale Outsourcing and Offshoring, where established companies seek to focus on core competencies, cut costs, enhance profitability and competitiveness in the marketplace. As part of that discussion the presentation discussed components of Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
Presentation discussed both opportunities but also pitfalls and needed legal protections. The presentation provided an overview of key contract terms to seek in outsourcing agreements, including key terms of contracts and compensation arrangements for small scale consultants and independent contractors, who contract out work to complete projects or outsource other aspects of their business to remain competitive on the marketplace.
