Determining which Tool Offers the Best (Intellectual Property) Protection

This article I wrote in the June 5, 2009 issue of  Boston Business Journal.  The article discusses copyright filings and trade secret agreements as useful tools, which under some circumstances are the forms of intellectual property protection best suited to protect business assets against infringement. Such assets include brochures, articles and other writings, artistic works, computer codes, inventions, know-how, customer lists and business proprietary information.  The article also describes key elements of these protections, as well as cost savings and other benefits over other forms of IP protection.
